Vanessa Miller

Vanessa Miller was born and raised in sunny South Africa, graduated from the University of Stellenbosch, and later completed a postgraduate degree from the University of South Africa. In 2011, after moving with her husband and their family to his hometown of Huntsville—and wanting to stay at home with their young twins while also producing an income—Vanessa began her art career in portraiture.

Vanessa now enjoys a professional career as an artist. But as a lifelong student, she continues to learn and grow as an artist. She has studied with several of America’s most renowned master artists: portraiture with Daniel E. Greene and Chris Saper; plein air painting—a passion of hers—with John C. Traynor and Kim English; and intensive instruction in layering and broken brushstrokes with contemporary impressionist Ingrid Christensen and with Maggie Siner, a contemporary artist who has influenced a generation of painters.

Vanessa’s works have been juried and accepted into the American Impressionist Society (AIS) by the National Oil and Acrylic Society (NOAPS) and the Plein Air Salon, winning best in the Outdoor Still Life category. She exhibits and sells her work at juried shows in Huntsville, Birmingham, Memphis, Chattanooga, and Atlanta.
